Innovative Teaching Methods Adapted by Shishu Sarothi

An event on communication and public speaking was held on 28th July for around 35 students who are a part of the English Access Microscholarship Program, at the Zouq Resto Café. The children learnt about an array of things like table manners, verbal and non-verbal communication.

The students also learnt about the nuances of impromptu conversations, table manners, appearance on stage, body language, and ideal eye-contact during communication. The session on communication was conducted by Madhu Raghavendra, poet and social development practitioner. The session on presenting oneself in public and table manners was carried out by Intibah Murtafi. The team facilitating the program regularly carries out such events for students enrolled in this programme at Shishu Sarothi.

The English Access Microscholarship Program (Access) which started in Shishu Sarothi on 18th December 2018, provides a foundation of English language skills to bright, economically disadvantaged students primarily 13- to 25-year-olds worldwide through after-school classes and intensive sessions in their countries.  Access programs expose students to U.S. culture and democratic values, improve the students’ potential to participate successfully in the socio-economic development of their countries, and increase their chances of competing for and participating in future U.S. exchange and study programs.
