Pothrongee takes the streets of Guwahati by musical storm

Pothrongee, an upcoming collective of musicians and music lovers is taking Guwahati by a musical storm. The group tries to promote music by performing on the streets across Guwahati. On World Music Day, 21st June, they turned the street soulfully musical, near Chandmari flyover. There was a huge gathering of passersby.

One of their first performances was held at around Cotton University, and since then there has been no looking back.  They perform regularly at various street corners in Guwahati in an effort to take music to everyone.

The music they are creating on the streets is bringing together all genres. They bring with them Bhupen Hazarika, Vishnu Rabha, Bob Dylan, Bhatiali songs, Baul geet, Rabindra Sangeet, folk songs from all over the world. Once in a while the line up also include lovely poetry performances.

Guwahati based bands and independent musicians have also joined the musical movement. The regular contributors to the movement Bibhash Pathak, Swadhyay, Doorbin, and Bottle Rockets many others are hoping this will redefine street music in Guwahati and build a free culture of jamming on the streets.

This is a great way to take music to everyone, create interest for indi music among people and build a community of folks interested in music.  This is to tell that music does not belong to one genre, one region, one nation—music is everyone, everyone is music.
